Larry J. Burmingham
CATO ­ Larry J. Burmingham, U.S. Navy Ret., 71, of State Route 370, Cato, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at his residence. Born in Camden, the son of the late Henry Jay and Dorothy Ballou Burmingham, he resided in Cato since his retirement from the Navy in 1980. He served 30 years in the Navy and then transferred to the Fleet Reserve upon retirement. Larry served three tours of Vietnam and one tour in Saudi Arabia, as the advisor to the Saudi Royal Navy. Larry retired from St. Joseph"s Hospital after 20 plus years. He was raised in the Memphis and Jordan areas. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, R. Jean Burmingham, of Cato; his son, James D. Burmingham, of Cato; sister, Mary Jane Hunt, of LaFargeville; brother, John H. Burmingham, of Denver, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Larry.
