Lillian Oquendo Obituary

AUBURN - Lillian Oquendo, 47, of 33 Seymour St., Auburn, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at her home. A native of Brooklyn, Lillian was born on March 22, 1963, the daughter of Gilberto and Carmen Iris Serrano. A graduate of Brooklyn high schools and the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES program, she was a certified nurses aide. For many years she was employed at the Cayuga County Nursing Home, and part-time at Hess, Auburn; and was a member of ACP. Surviving are her mother, Carmen, in Puerto Rico; children, Melissa Oquendo, of Syracuse, Jose Reyes, of Auburn, Emily Gonzalez, of Auburn, and Ryan McConnell, of Auburn; grandchildren, Jeremiah Oquendo, Jose and Jaden Reyes, Justice Slaughter, Jeni Gonzalez, Fury Oquendo-Slaughter, Tamajanique Canady, Quaniqua Bacon; a sister, Iris Pagan, of Brooklyn; and a nephew. She was predeceased by her father; and husband, Herbert Gonzalez. Private services will held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, New Jersey. Lillian was a vivacious person, who brightened up a room with her laughter and love of life. Though I only knew Lillian for a brief period, she impacted me in a very profound and positive way. She will be greatly missed. Emily, and family, she loved you all very much. I am sorry for your loss.
