AUBURN - Mabel S. Chase, 99, of Auburn, formerly of Cato, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born in Ira, September 7, 1925, daughter of the late Milton M. Doty Sr., and the late Jennie Belle Kyle. Mabel was a farmer's wife and worked hard raising her seven children. She was one of the founding members of the Ira Fire Department Auxiliary and a long-standing member of the Ira Methodist Church. She worked as an election inspector for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, and camping.
She was predeceased by her husband, Luman G. Chase (2012); daughter, Janice Welch; son, Edward Chase; sons-in-law, Bruce Chappell, James Shutter, and Lyman Welch; daughter-in-law, Janice Chase; and brother, Milton Doty Jr.
Survived by her children, Barbara (Nelson) Bratt, Joanne Chappell, Laura (William) Woodworth, Cindy Shutter and David (Sheryl) Chase; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours were Wednesday, April 30, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Keysor-Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Cato, with a funeral service at 1 p.m., burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery. For those wishing to make contributions in Mabel's name, they may do so to Hospice of CNY, hospicecny.org, or the Faatz-Crofut Home for the Elderly, 46 Grant Ave, Auburn NY 13021.
