Mary A. Leonardi
May 8, 1964 - March 9, 2024
WEEDSPORT/AUBURN - Mary A. Leonardi, 59, of Weedsport and Auburn, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2024, after a brief illness.
Mary was born on May 8, 1964, to Ezio and Barbara Leonardi. She graduated from the Weedsport Central School District with the Class of 1983.
Mary worked for several years as a Machine Operator at Leonardi Manufacturing Co., Inc. She enjoyed volunteering for special events at St. Joseph's Church and the Weedsport Free Library.
Mary loved participating in her Catholic faith, Special Olympic events, and swimming in Owasco Lake during the summer months. She also loved "old time" professional wrestling, bowling, NASCAR and Dirt Track racing, celebrating birthdays (especially hers) and all things purple.
Mary loved life and everyone she ever met. She had the most positive attitude, a warm smile, and a kind word for absolutely everyone. She was a bright light in all our lives, and she provided an example every day of how to treat others.
Mary was predeceased by her mother, Barbara (Babiarz) Leonardi and her Godparents, Edward and Dorothy Babiarz. She is survived by her father, Ezio V. Leonardi; brothers: Ezio Leonardi, Jr., Joseph (Michelle) Leonardi; and sister, Theresa Leonardi; as well as her very special niece, Nina Leonardi; and her precious family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mary, and her family wish to thank everyone who helped her through this challenging period of her life including Dr. Daniel Alexander, his staff, Auburn Community Hospital's 2nd floor staff, The Commons Rehab and Terrace Level Staff, Dr. Timothy Damron, his dedicated staff, Upstate Community Hospital's 6th floor staff, and Mary's nursing angels on earth Taylor Lukins, Megan Goodell, and Dawn Thomas.
Finally, we wish to thank everyone who helped Mary learn and grow, especially Auburn's Mr. Joe Valentino, Mrs. Joan DeAngelis, Weedsport's Miss Ellen McNeill and the late Fran and Doc Goodwin – all of whom saw Mary's potential.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2024 in St. Joseph's Church, Weedsport. The family will receive friends in the church prior to the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. and immediately after Mass at a luncheon in the basement of the church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Joseph's Church, c/o Our Lady of the Snows Parish, 15 Clark Street, Auburn, NY 13021, Weedsport Free Library, 2795 E. Brutus Street, Weedsport, NY 13166 or the charity of your choice.

Very sorry to hear of Mary´s passing. I remember growing up when passing by your house on Jackson Street, Mary would be outside and she would always say hello to everyone by name. She knew everyone and always had a kind word or a story to tell. Just seeing her picture here brought back so many memories. My condolences to the family.
