AUBURN | Mary Massaro Sheffey, 85, of Stryker Homes, Auburn, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Friday evening, March 28, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine DeCataldo Massaro. Mary had been employed as a waitress for many years at various local establishments, including Close & Brady's, Auburn Diner and Locastro's Restaurant. Mary also enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends.
She is survived by seven children, Charlene (Ronnie) Raynor, of Mississippi, Richard Sheffey, of Auburn, Robert (Pam) Sheffey, of Syracuse, Michael (Zella) Sheffey, of Ohio, J. Thomas Sheffey, of Auburn, Judy (Frederick) Coll, of Tennesee, and Mary (Robert) Villano, of Auburn; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Emily Garropy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by a sister, Judy Carbonaro, and a brother, John Massaro.
In keeping with Mary's wishes, there are no calling hours or services. Burial will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Pettigrass Funeral Home of Auburn.
