Matthew Hempel Obituary
December 17, 1953 - May 1, 2025
Matthew Thomas Hempel, son of Thomas Hempel and Marguerite (Foos) Hempel, was born December 17, 1953, in Rochester, N.Y. He passed away on May 1, 2025 of a brief illness. Matthew grew up in central New York and graduated from Port Byron high school in 1972. He earned a two-year degree in Animal Husbandry at SUNY College at Morrisville in 1974. He stayed with his family to work on the dairy farm in Conquest, N.Y. 1979 the family moved to Eldridge, Mo., where he and his brother Albert operated an extensive farm and cattle ranch.
He is survived by his twin sister, Jacinta (Sam) Colombo, Tully, N.Y.; brother, Christopher (Cyndie) Hempel, Austin, Texas; sister, Catherine (Randy) Applebee, Port Byron, N.Y.; sister, Annette (Daniel) Leppert, Dickey, N.D.; brother, Clatus (Dorothy) Hempel, Lebanon, Mo.; sister, Mary (Randall) Howard, Fordland, Mo.; brother, Albert Hempel, of the home; and brother, Herman (Elizabeth) Hempel, Lebanon, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and brother, Daniel Hempel.
