AUBURN - Opal England Becker, 79, of 4784 Rockefeller Road, Auburn, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, in Auburn Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Sevierville, Tenn., and lived most of her life in the Auburn area. She was a member of the Port Byron Federated Church, and until her retirement had worked 25 years as an executive chef at Hollywood Restaurant.
She is survived by her husband, John C. Becker of Auburn; father- and mother-in-law, John and Ida Becker of Cayuga; two sons, William A. Becker and wife, Manette, of Auburn, and John W. Becker and wife, Anna, of Union Springs; three daughters, Sheila P. Jenkins of Auburn, Earline Chiarilli and her husband, Patrick, of Florida, and Dolores Caldwell and her husband, Robert, of Port Byron; five grandchildren, Heather Chiarilli of Texas, Patrick J. Chiarilli and wife, Sandy, of Florida, Jason T. Caldwell of Port Byron, Manette and Kira Becker of Auburn; one great-grandchild, Julianna Chiarilli of Florida; two brothers, Daniel England of North Carolina, Arnold England of South Carolina; four sisters, Lena and Lorrine Lanier, Jean Browning and Mildred Hogue.
Predeceased by a brother, James England.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, in the Cheche Funeral Home Inc., 1778 Clark St. Road, Auburn. Services will be 7 p.m. today, immediately following calling hours, at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Neil Strong of Port Byron Federated Church. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in memory of Opal to the Owasco Volunteer Fire Department.
Opal had a great love for cooking and gardening, but loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her beautiful family.
