Patrick Dempsey Obituary

LOCKE - Patrick Dempsey, 80, of Locke, N.Y. died Jan. 27, 2017 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, N.Y. surrounded by his family.

Pat was born in Riverhead, Long Island, N.Y. and raised in Southampton, Long Island, graduating from Southampton H.S. in June 1954. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years. Upon returning home he worked for a plumbing and heating company.

In 1974, Pat moved to Locke and worked for Hewitt Bros., Inc. He later purchased the Locke General Store until his retirement in October 2000. He served as a Fire Commissioner for the Locke Fire District.

He was predeceased by his parents Brian and Anne Hart Dempsey, his twin brother Charles in 1994, and his sister-Maureen Keenan in 2015, all from Southampton.

He is survived by his wife Beth of 55 years; a daughter-Lynne Raymond and her husband Rick; grandson-Jonathan Raymond of Moravia; a son Shaun Dempsey (Shannon Bernard) and her son Jaycob Bernard of Perry, N.Y. and also many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. Services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Bird Cemetery, Locke.

A reception will follow the services at the Locke Fire Dept. Banquet Hall.

Contributions can be made to the Locke Fire Department and Four Town First Aid Squad.
