Pauline Shaw Obituary

Pauline L. (Kromer) Shaw

June 14, 1937 - March 11, 2025

SENNETT - Pauline L. Shaw (Kromer), 87, of Sennett, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was born in Auburn N.Y., June 14, 1937, "Flag Day", to the late John and Leona (Seager) Kromer and was the second of two children (David). A graduate of Central High School, Pauline worked at the family business, Kromer's Bakery, and later with her brother, David, at Mr. Donut. In 1958, Pauline married her late husband, Bernard T Shaw, and together they raised four children, Candace (Richard) Searing, the late Bernard Jr. (Sandra), John (Susan), David (Christina).

Pauline had many lifelong friends and neighbors from her years on Highland St. in Auburn and loved to tell stories to her kids and grandkids of her days there. Later in life, Pauline and Ted would move to Port Byron, N.Y. and would frequent the Port Byron Diner and enjoy the camaraderie of friends. Pauline loved to bowl. She and Ted would join bowling leagues around the area where she made many special friends and memories.

After retiring from Dunkin Donuts, Pauline spent her "golden years" touring the Finger Lakes with her many friends at the Red Hat Society. She spent her evenings watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, and never missed the six o'clock news. She loved to spend time with her 19 grandchildren, Richard (Sarah) Shaw, Brett (Casey) Searing, Sarah (Andrew) Wood, Alexsandra (Daniel) Sullivan, Stephanie (Jason) Ferrante, Bryan (Rebecca) Shaw, Lauren Shaw, Kathryn Shaw, John Shaw, Andrew Shaw, Victoria (Jerald) Wilkes, Michael Shaw, Hannah Shaw, Jenna (Connor) DeChick, Kendall Shaw, Daniel Shaw, Spencer Shaw, Julia Shaw, Mary Shaw. Over the years, Pauline, "Grandma", "Nana", loved to attend all of her grandchildren's events, always so proud and showing up with a smile on her face ready to point them out to everyone.

In 2016, Pauline was predeceased by the love of her life, Bernard "Ted" Shaw Sr., after sharing 58 wonderful years together. She was also predeceased in 2023 by a son, Bernard T. "Bernie" Shaw Jr., whom she loved dearly.

She is also survived by her older brother, David (Kromer) of Auburn; and her 20 great-grandchildren. Pauline frequently said "Oh God! I didn't expect to live long enough to see one great-grandchild let alone 20 great-grandchildren". She loved when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would visit as it always made her so happy.

There are no calling hours and services for the family are private. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pauline's memory may be made to Tyburn Academy, 17 Clymer St., Auburn N.Y., 13021 or to Sennett Volunteer Fire Department, 3526 Franklin Street Rd, Auburn N.Y., 13021.
