Richard Wood Obituary
Richard T. Wood, 92 of Auburn, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 2, 2026.
He was a lifelong resident of Auburn, the son of the late Leonard Wood and the late Margaret (Dygert) Smith.
Richard was a prominent businessman for many years, owning and operating Dick's Automative Specialties, Inc. and DW Yacht Sales. He was a past commander of the Auburn Power Squadron, and a 50+ year member. He was also a current member of Elks Lodge #31, Camillus Order and a former member of the Watkins Glen Yacht Club.
Dick served our country proudly and honorably in the Army during the Korean War, while stationed in Germany. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and especially liked following Dale Earnhardt Sr.
After retirement, Dick loved wintering with his wife Barbara in Stuart, Fla., where they enjoyed his favorite pastime of boating.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara (Bazarnik) Wood; daughter, Kim Pettigrass; granddaughter, Ashley Pettigrass-Bertonica, her husband, Jerid Bertonica, and half-sister, Mary Agnes Lane.
Calling hours are Wednesday, January 7th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Pettigrass Funeral Home. Services are Thursday, January 8th, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 196 Genesee St, Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

My most sincere condolences to your family Barbara, and Kim for your loss. You certainly were blessed with such a wonderful husband and father. I can cherish childhood memories growing up with years of laughter, fun, love, and never a dull moment with our families enjoying the summers at Cayuga Lake. I'm sorry for your loss, Woody filled our lives with much love, and memories, he was a very kind soul. He will be missed by all ...Cherish the memories made we all enjoyed.

I worked for Dick in the late 60's until the late 70's. Dick was a great mentor and a great employer. It was a privilege and a pleasure to work for him.

Dick Wood was a good friend and employer in the late 60´ & 70´. He and his Wife Barbara were Godparents to one of my Daughters. He will be Truly Missed in this Lifetime .
