THROOP | Steven A. Rathbun, 57, of Centerport Road, Throop, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Auburn Community Hospital, after becoming ill on his way to work.
Steve was born in Auburn, the son of Burrill and Bertha Blank Rathbun. He was employed by ARC and most recently for the E. John Gavras Center in Auburn. He was a member of the Throop Church of God. He was a 20-year member of the Throop Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching sports.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Rathbun, of Auburn; mother, Bertha Blank Rathbun Mettler, of Spring Lake; sons, Steven R. (Audra) Rathbun, of Union Springs, Timothy C. Rathbun, of Throop, William J. (Samali) Rathbun, of Auburn, Mathew S. (Shannon) Rathbun, of Phoenix and Nicholas M. Rathbun, of Throop; daughter, Jennifer L. (Mike) Dennis, of Auburn; brother, Timothy G. (Tina) Rathbun, of Montezuma; two sisters, Cathlene (Carl) Mettler, of Spring Lake, Tammy (Dwayne) Wilson, of Conquest; grandchildren, Brandy Davenport, Cody Rathbun, Samson Rathbun, Jamin Rathbun, Emma Dennis, Brody Dennis, Isaac Dennis, Xavier Rathbun, Xena Rathbun; one great-grandchild, Colton Silcox, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and a brother, Burrill Rathbun.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Audioun Funeral Home LLC, 218 Main St., Port Byron. Services will follow at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Throop.
