William F. Hasenjager
MORAVIA - William F. Hasenjager, 84, of Moravia NY passed away Sunday February 14, 2021 with his family at his side.
He was born on Lynn St. in Ithaca, the son of Bob and Gwen Hasenjager.

He loved to hunt and fish especially with Kevin Schafer, Sydney and Louie to whom he imparted his knowledge and was delighted when they got their first fish and game. If you're on the lake on a calm misty morning and see the Old Man pulling wire give him a nod and ask him how the fishing is.

Great man stopped us once on owasco lake as we caught and released a 9 lb rainbow trout couldn´t believe we let it go. He then stopped us every time he saw us to see how we were doing. Never to check our license. See you on the big pond my friend. We will catch up. RIP

Bill was a legend in the outdoors and I remember him checking in on myself and my grandfather when we were goose hunting in the mid 80´s. I recall being completely anxious simply because he was a game warden and I was 14. My grandfather said "knock it off. It´s just Bill and we don´t break rules." They talked like old friends while I paced up and down calling. Bill stopped me and gave me some pointers!
Great guy. Sorry for the loss.

Sad to read of Bill´s passing recently. Have many wonderful memories of Owasco Lake fun, winter snowplowing and all the lake knowledge that Bill and Marylou shared. He was always there when called, especially when an apparent rabid raccoon wandered into our yard. Called Bill, he came, shot it and disposed of the remains! He was a guy you could depend on.

Our sincere condolences to the Hasenjager family. Your Dad was such a kind soul and will be missed. United once more with your Mom. I'm sure he and my father-in-law Mike are up there swapping fishing stories as we speak. May he rest in peace.
