Allene Nelson Obituary

Retired School Teacher STATESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Allene S. Nelson, 73, of Statesboro, Ga. died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at University Hospital in Augusta. The native of Manatee, Fla. was a retired schoolteacher in Bulloch County School Systems. Mrs. Nelson was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Lifetime movies and Golden Girls reruns and she was an excellent seamstress and cook. Allene had always been a sports enthusiast and helped coach a softball team alongside her husband in her younger years. She was a faithful fan of Atlanta Braves Baseball. She was a supporter of all Georgia Tech athletics and especially loved attending Georgia Tech home football games ("What's the good word?") But most of all Allene was happiest when spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Tommy and Kim Nelson of Statesboro, Mildred Nelson and Noelle Raiford of North Augusta, S.C.; four grandchildren, Angel, Amanda, J.C., and Chuck; one sister, Lois Williams of Pulaski, Ga.; one brother, Robert Stockdale of Cumming, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Nelson is preceded in death by her husband, Tom and son, Chuck. Vistation will be Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the Hodges Moore Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Hodges Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Hodges Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
