Avinash Chopra

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Avinash Chopra, 90, brother of Ms. Janak Jerath passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 after a brief hospitalization. Mr. Chopra was born in 1921, in India to late Mr. Bhagat R. Chopra and Mrs. Draupadi Chopra. He was an engineer by profession and worked as director of Burma Shell in India. He lived in Augusta for the last 30 years and worked as an auditor in a local office up until his retirement 2 years ago. Mr. Chopra was devoted to his family and his friends leaving many memories of a life well lived. He liked to travel, play chess and bridge, and took part in tournaments. He is survived by his son, Mr. Deepak Chopra; one daughter, Mrs. Jyoti Khurana; four grandchildren, Dr. Rahul Khurana, Ms. Anjali Khurana, Sonia Chopra, and Evan Chopra; two great grandsons, Jai Khurana and Krish Khurana. Funeral services will be held 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Elliott Sons Funeral home Columbia Road Chapel. A Hawan ceremony conducted by Dr Bista will be followed by services. Cremation will follow at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Deepak Chopra, Neeraj Khurana, Dr. Ravinder Jerath, Dr. Achhinder Kumar Ohri, and Rajinder Jerath.
