APPLING, Ga. - Catherine Ulm Earnest, 71, beloved mother, sister, and aunt, died in her home with family and a friend in attendance on Sunday March 19, 2006. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Thomas L. King Funeral Home Chapel. A brief graveside service will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Thomas L. King Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Earnest, born in Hephzibah, Ga., resided in Appling. She retired as a Manager of Operator Services with Southern Bell in 1993. Survivors include her two children, Donna Earnest, Birmingham, Ala. and Harold 'Skip' Earnest, Martinez; two sisters, Elizabeth 'Libby' Gibbs, Rochelle, Ga. and Helen Parkman, Augusta. Pallbearers will be her nephews, David Parkman, Stanley Redd, her great-nephew, Brian Redd, and Bobby Gibbs, Charlie Street and John Street. Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd., Martinez, Ga. Dear Family,

I was sorry to read about Ms. Earnest death. She was my mother's manager at Southern Bell for many years. My mother passed away last year in July so I guess they are both in heaven now answering those VERY long distance calls for GOD :>)

I pray for God to give you the strength you'll need to get through this very difficult time. My momma always said that you loose your best friend when your momma dies. Well, she was right about that too.
