Elizabeth Matthews Wren entered into rest on Thursday, February 8, 2018.

Betty, as she was always known, was born in Wrens, GA in 1928 to Carlton G. and Alice Pilcher Matthews. She was a graduate of Wrens High School and Georgia State College for Women, and had lived in Augusta since 1951 with her husband, Jerry Kelley Wren.

Betty held various jobs through the years, but was primarily a homemaker. She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed many hobbies and particularly excelled at painting and golf. She was a member of Midland Valley County Club and was a co-founder of the CSRA Women's Golf Association.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by two daughters: Krista Weigle (Dan), and Elizabeth Goodwin; five grandchildren: Jennifer Tribble (Bobby), Ashley Yonce (Mark), Brad Goodwin (Brie), Alexis Wren, and Carlton Wren; and six great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a son, Jerry Kelley Wren, Jr.

The funeral service will be Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Karla Conditt Daniels officiating. Burial will be private.

I met Betty when I moved to South Carolina in 2003 and joined Midland Valley. Enjoyed playing with her very much. She was a lot of fun and we had great times together. I will cherish my memories of her forever.

So saddened to hear of the loss of your Mom. My heart aches for you and your family. You and Dan and family are in my prayers. I truly feel that the loss of "Mother"is one of the greatest losses we will experience. When you get a chance, pull up Sissy McCaa on youtube, her tribute to her Mom, "Shes Finally Home". Says it all. Love you very much. Fay
