Fletcher L. Walker

DEARING, Ga. - Fletcher Luther Walker, 81, husband of Linda Walker, entered into rest Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 2:00 PM, from Fort Creek Baptist Church, 1497 Fort Creek Rd, Dearing, GA, with Dr. Phil Bray officiating. He will lie in state at the Church from 12:00 - 2:00. Interment will follow in Fort Creek Church Cemetery. Mr. Walker, son of the late Henry Grady and Maggie Lott Walker, was born in Dearing, GA. He served in the United States Army and United States Air Force, where, during the Korean Conflict, he was a Prisoner of War. He was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church and the Katie Harrison Sunday School class. He was also a member of Harlem Masonic Lodge #276, Scottish Rite of Augusta, Alee Temple of Savannah, and Frances Bell, Chapter #75, Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Eddie Walker, of Martinez; daughters, Linda Eubanks and her husband, Paul, of Martinez, Laura Barrett and her husband, Jeff, of Grovetown, Debbie Vernon, and her husband, Paul, of Apopka, FL, Angie Yelton, and her husband, James, of Rockwood, TN, Regina Hooper, and her husband, Jimmy, of Athens, GA; stepchildren, Maytrice Reagan, of Grovetown, Stevie Bowles, Amanda Philpot and her husband, Lucious, Missy Tippin, and her husband, Paul, Teresa Vauldy and her husband, Steve, and Deann Luke, all of Dearing; sisters, Margaret Staulcup, and her husband, Earl, of Martinez, and Roma Odum, of Dearing; and his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Eddie Walker, Jeremy Daman, Cale Deese, Jerry Maddox, Paul Eubanks, James Yelton and Jeff Barrett. Honorary pallbearers will members of Harlem Masonic Lodge #276. The family will receive friends Saturday, at the church, from 12:00 pm until the hour of service.
