Gertrude Sechrest Obituary

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Mrs. Gertrude 'Trudie' Arno Sechrest, 84, of Charlotte, NC, died March 19, 2005 at Lake Norman Regional Center. Mrs. Sechrest was born August 18, 1920 in Holden, Massachusetts, one of six children to the late Archibald Thaxter Arno and Eva Mae Mercier Arno. She moved to Charlotte in 1945 and was a charter member of Derita Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the church being a member of the Sunshine Club and served on the church News Letter Committee for many years. With her talented, skilled hands, Mrs. Sechrest worked as a seamstress, first with Frank's Draperies and later crafted porcelain dolls with Dolls by Jerry. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gertrude Sechrest will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 21, 2005 from the sanctuary of Derita Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Rick Hoffarth, officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 9:30 AM until the funeral hour at the church. Mrs. Sechrest is survived by her three children, Robert Sechrest and wife, Patricia of Bremerton, WA, Terry Herron and husband, Ed of Mooresville, NC and Pattie Warrick and husband, Melvin of Hephzibah, GA, ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28202 or to The March of Dimes, 2325 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28207.
