HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. Herbert Eugene Kirkland, Sr., 79, husband of the late Alma Genelle Key Kirkland, went into the open arms of his Lord and Savior Saturday, September 28, 2013, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM, from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with the Reverend John C. Kilpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Kirkland, a native of Augusta, was the son of the late Garnett and Martha Baldowski Kirkland, was born in Augusta and was self-employed as a Printer. He and his wife loved to travel and their favorite places to visit were the mountains of NC and TN and the Florida coast line. He was a member and Deacon of Silvercrest Baptist Church for many years and loved his church family and friends. He is survived by his children, Neil R. and Kathy G. Euliano of Cape Vincent, NY, Herbert E., Jr. and Regina Kirkland of Hephzibah; sisters, June Bromley and Martha Ann Anderson both of Hephzibah, Gladys Helmly of Augusta; grandsons, Neil R. Euliano, Jr., of Augusta, Chris and Ryan Howard of Hephzibah; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Terry Stanrod, Lawton Wylds, John Wylds, Jim Duggan, Roger Tomlin, and Steve Schlein. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Silvercrest Baptist Church.
