Jim Pitts Obituary

GREENWOOD, S.C. - James Alvin 'Jim' Pitts, Sr., 73, resident of 220 Pitts Circle, died May 24, 2008 at Downtown Augusta VA Medical Center. Born January 24, 1935 in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James Harold and Lula Belle Collins Pitts. A graduate of Greenwood High School, he also served in the US Navy as a naval medic from 1954 to 1957. He was a retired manager from McCrory Stores. He was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church, was a former member of the Jaycees and a member of the Moose Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Vicki and husband, Bobby Easler of Edgefield; two sons, Jimmy and wife, Patti Pitts of North Augusta and Chuck and wife, Robin Pitts of Atlanta; a brother, Frank Pitts of Anderson; grandchildren, Scott Easler, Justin Pitts, Caitlin Pitts, Emily Pitts, Kayla Pitts and Zach Pitts. He was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin Easler. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Thursday afternoon from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. Burial will be in the Chappells Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Pitts, Chuck Pitts, Bobby Easler, Justin Pitts, Scott Easler, Bruce Hudson, Chris Hudson and Caleb Boatwright. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648. Dear Jimmy, Chuck, and Vicki,
I was very sorry to learn today that your father has passed away. I know Murray, especially thought alot of him when he worked at H.L. Greene.
May you find comfort from all the friends and family that reach out now to show how much they care. If there is anything you need, please don't hesitate.

I will miss you so much. Our birthday will never be quite the same. I'll miss our phone calls and visits. I'm so blessed that you were able to know Matthew and form a bond with him.
