Mr. John Charles Patrick Learnard, 66, of Graniteville, SC, known to his family and friends as "Pat", entered into rest in the comfort of his home, on Tuesday, August 1st, 2017, with his wife of forty-two years, Mrs. Nancy Shanks Learnard, at his side.

Born in Winsted, CT, he had been a resident of Aiken County, SC, since 1966. He retired form CSX, where he was a Conductor after over thirty years of service. Pat enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, hunting and a round of golf. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jeremy Wells, Physician's Assistant Derek, Nurses, April, Amanda, Ebony, Robbie and Leslie and especially Patty, who was a volunteer and his chemo buddy, Fred Wilson, for the care provided to Pat.

In addition to his wife and grands, family members include daughters, Wendy Fore and her husband, Billy, Graniteville, SC, Stacey Learnard-Fields, Clearwater, SC, Kimberly Paradise and her husband, Michael, Trenton, SC and Meredith Fulton and husband, Brent, Graniteville, SC and siblings, James Michael Learnard, China, Colleen Faber, Graniteville, SC and Tim Learnard and his wife, Pam, Peachtree City, GA.

The family will greet friends on Friday, August 4th, 2017, beginning at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4 o'clock in the chapel. Pastor Stephen Phillips will officiate. Grandsons will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family has respectfully requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. (www.cancer.org)

I had the privilege of working with Pat as an EMT, Firefighter, and Railroader.I grew up in Collinsville, Ct , he in Winstead, Ct. We both survived the "Floods of 1955 from Hurricane Diane. I lost track of Pat when I retired from CSX as a Locomotive Engineer. Will miss Pat & Mr. Learnerd and our occasional round of golf as well. R.I.P "Yankee" !
