John Price Sr.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - John Walter Price, 86, passed away on February 27, 2016 at University Hospital. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. I.P. Price, he was a lifelong resident of the Augusta area and graduate of the Boys Catholic High. He retired as Vice President and Controller from Bankers First. Always a supporter of the Augusta area, he owned several small businesses and opened Price Income Tax Service upon his retirement. He was a former member of the Optimist Club and Goshen Plantation Country Club. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Walter will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His great joys in life were playing golf, traveling, family beach trips, relaxing Sundays at his pool and a friendly poker game. Walter was a family man and he and his wife, Lianne, created a home which was the gathering place for multiple generations of family and friends. He loved and honored his family and respected all of those around him. He set an example for all to follow and he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Lianne Bland Price; his daughters, Tina Price Harn (Robert), Phyllis Price Elrod (Danny) and son, John Walter (Wally) Price, Jr. (Kim); grandchildren, Emily Harn Azar (Travis), John Robert Harn, Hayley Price Elrod, Autumn Ashley Price, Collin Braxton Davis, and Amber Nicole Woodward; sister, Mary Ann Price Richards. He was preceded in death by his brothers, I.P. (Bo) Price, Jr., James Andrew (Jimmy) Price, and Thomas Price. The family will receive friends between noon and 2:00 pm on Sunday, March the 6th at Thomas Poteet & Son, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, Ga., with Fr. Mark Van Alstine.
