Josephine Lide Obituary
She was the wife of the late Francis (Fran) Marion Lide and the mother of Robert (Bob) Erwin Lide. Born in Due West, SC on November 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Thelma Davis Westmoreland and Mason Harris.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at CrossBridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be the hour preceding the service.
Jo worked for Edison Electric in New York and the Augusta Lumber Company before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was extremely active in with her Church including serving as librarian, active in WMU, worked in the Nursery and supported the Acteens, Girls in Action, and Youth Group. In her free time she loved to read, bird watch, and go to the beach. She extensively travelled with her husband Fran to the 48 states and parts of Canada in their RV. Her faith was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her church families at The Hill and CrossBridge Baptist Churches.
She leaves her daughter Ann (Jim Bauer) Lide Pelt, Grandchildren Amy (Paul) Gilstad and Bobby (Traci) Lide, two great grandchildren Ian and Ainsley Lide, and her sister, Mae Westmoreland Strange of Greer, SC. Her extended family included Lynn and Lee Powell, Margie Candler, Bert Candler, and Barbara Tyler. A special thank you to her caregivers Anne, Connie, Terri, Vera, and Victoria along with Tidewater Hospice. Your loving care was so appreciated.

Jo and Fran were very dear friends. John and I with several other couples went on several golfing trips and enjoyed going to myrtle beach togetherJos church was always most important and she helped in many ways to influence others to love The LordI moved from Augusta five years ago and haven't beenClose to Jo but she has always been in my prayers and I will remember her as a very dear friend. Mama Pelt and I were so very sorry to hear of Jo's (Granny Lide) passing. She was such a sweet lady with a big faith and a big heart. Her light will be missed on this earth. Our love to Ann, Amy, Bobby and extended family. She has left a beautiful legacy!

Mrs. Lide was such a joy! She always gave me a hug and was so happy to see me. She never met a stranger and showed God's love to everybody. I know she is rejoicing with her husband today! She will truly be missed.

Mrs. Jo was such a sweet, kind, Christian woman. I will always remember her. What an extraordinary example she was of a true Christian lady. She will be missed by those who love her but what a reunion she is enjoying with her Lord and heavenly family. May God comfort her family with peace, comfort and strength.
