GIBSON, Ga. - Mrs. Katie Ruth Usry Swint, age 89, of Gibson, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church, Mitchell, GA, with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Swint will lie in state from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. A native of Glascock County, Katie was a daughter of the late Robert Gordon Usry and Charlotte Hall Swint Usry. She was a retired L.P.N. with Tri County Health and the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Swint was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Swint; daughter, Nona Dale Swint; siblings, Willie David Swint, Ab Swint, Vess Swint, Deanie Swint and Evelyn Thigpen and is survived by sons, James Swint (Sherry) of Hephzibah and Larry Swint (Susan) of Mitchell; daughter, Barbara Swint of Gibson; sister, Emmie Davis of Augusta; 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
