Kevin Carroll Obituary

WRENS, Ga. - Mr. Kevin Wayne Carroll, 45, entered into rest Saturday, December 29, 2007, son of Rev. Dr. Emmitt Tip Carroll and Kathy Carroll, Wrens, Ga. Survived by his parents; two brothers, Jerry Carroll of Winder, Ga. and Steve Carroll and his wife, Teri, of Minco, Okla.; a sister, Angelia Mobley and her husband, Jeff, of Durham, N.C. and Kevin Carroll and fiancŽe, Angela Flanders, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Emmitt III. Kevin had an avid interest in sailing and marine diving. He was a Navy Veteran and had received three Navy Commendation awards plus special commendations from the Atlantic Fleet Commander. He was a marine engineer and certified deep-sea diver. He had worked on supply barges to off- shore oil platforms, plus inter- coastal transportation and Caribbean supply transports. He had been the manager of two nursing home food preparation facilities. He also played in several bands. He attended Gadsden Alabama State College and Snead Junior College, Ala. Kevin was born in Birmingham, Ala. and lived in Ky., Pa., Va., Ga., Fla., N.C., Calif., La., and Germany. He was a member of Vidette United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 229, Wrens, Ga. A service of celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5th at James Funeral Home, Wrens, with Rev. Jimmy Cason, Statesboro District Superintendent, South Georgia UMC, presiding. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 229, Wrens. Memorial donations, as desired, may be made to Disabled Veterans Fund, American Legion Post 229, c/o Glenn Bartel, 101 Tucky Ho Drive, Wrens, Ga. 30833, Chuck Lawson Heart Fund, c/o First State Bank, Wrens, Ga. 30833, or Vidette United Methodist Church Mission Fund, c/o Elaine Wheatley, 240 Louisville Road, Keysville, Ga. 30816.
