Melvin Lee "Mel" Hudgins Sr.

JACKSON, SC - Melvin Lee 'Mel' Hudgins, Sr., 60, of Fisher Rd., died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC. A native of Washington, NC, Mr. Hudgins was a son of the late George Melvin and Addie Lee Koonce Hudgins. He had lived in Jackson since 1985 and was a welder with Jackson Welding and Repair Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and was a Mason and former EMT. Survivors include his beloved wife, Lori Jean Gilbert Hudgins; two daughters, Diana Bellamy, Columbia, Carolyn Chase, Evans, GA; four sons, M. L. Hudgins, Jr., Jackson, Douglas Allen Taylor, Allen, KY, Michael Lee Hudgins, Charleston and Joseph Alfred Sirard, Jackson; three sisters, Ann Cuthrell, Vanceboro, NC, Jan Cahoon, New Bern, NC and Teresa Douglas, Efland, NC, a brother, David Hudgins, Bayboro, NC and nine grandchildren, Cristina Brown, Julie Brown, Shelby Gregory, Victoria Chase, Erica Chase, Rhiannon Hudgins, Houston Hudgins, Alex Hudgins and Emily Marie Sirard. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, Aiken, SC with The Rev. Ricky Wade Hudgins officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Pou, Craig Kaplenski, Jesse Snaidmen, Kevin Slade, Perry Lowe, Mark Vaughn, Henry Beard and Jay Henley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
