Myrtis Thomas Obituary
Augusta, GA—Myrtis Ann (Simpkins) Thomas was the daughter of Willie Simpkins and Dorothy (Pollard) Simpkins. She was the only daughter of 4 siblings. Her brothers; Willie Simpkins Jr., Robert (Bobby) Simpkins, Eddie Lee Simpkins, preceded her in death.
She was a native Augustan and loved her community. She served over thirty years in the Richmond County Board of Education school system. Her service to the community touched many lives. She always strived to bring the best out of people, and had a great sense of humor. She is survived by her five daughters; Angela (Simpkins) Brookes, Phalonda Hayes, Kimberly Kardos, Shannon Thomas, Alfreda (Thomas) Keck (Matt Keck).

Myrtis was truly an angel on earth. Working with her @Forest Hills Elem. and Lake Forest Hills was fun. She did her job exceptionally well and she always made the day uplifting. How fortunate we were as staff to work alongside her. Even after her retirement I saw her at the Library she worked at and she was the best worker. She's in my heart forever! Rest in peace.

I loved Mrytis. She always had a wonderful way of making you feel good. I loved her great attitude about life and her wigs. I know she had some difficult times with her health, but she still worked so hard and had a beautiful smile for everyone. Her granddaughters April and Camille were a joy to teach.

Myrtis was at Lake Forest Hills when I began working there. She always had a smile and kind word. She had a quick laugh and great advice when a problem arose. She was a joy to work with and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. RIP my friend. I know you are in the arms of Jesus and made whole again.

Myrtis always had a beautiful smile on her face and brought a smile to mine. Such a lovely person always thinking of others...Every time I would see her she always asked how my family was doing.
She was so proud of her family and her girls. I am so glad to have had the privilege to know such a genuine, funny and wonderful person... I will miss her so much. I pray for all of the family. Much love to you all.

I have such fond memories of Myrtis at school. She was so kind and always made me laugh when she talked about her wigs! Myrtis was part of our school family and was loved by staff & students. Sending prayers to the family. Thank you for sharing Myrtis with us! We will miss her dearly.
