Paul Joye Obituary

AIKEN, SC - Paul Revere Joye, 73, beloved husband of Ruth Owens Joye, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at University Hospital, Augusta, GA. A native of Florence County, SC, Mr. Joye was a son of the late Marvin L. and Dula Mae Tindall Joye. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Aiken since 1951. Mr. Joye was retired from Owens - Corning Fiberglass and was also self employed for many years in heating and air. He was a member and deacon of Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, SC. Survivors, in addition to his wife Ruth, include a daughter, Cindy (Darrell) Cartin, Aiken; two grandchildren, Joye Greene, Aiken and Jarrett (Jessica) Cartin, Beech Island; two great-grandchildren, Whitten Taylor Greene and Addison Faith Cartin. He is also survived by two sisters, Mildred (Wayne) Stalvey, Athens, GA and Glenna (Wendell) Nobels, Florence, SC and a brother, Preston L. (Dolores) Joye, Anderson, SC. A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held Friday at 3:00 PM at Christian Heritage Church, with The Revs. Stephen Phillips, Jody Padgett and Jonathon Randall officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tom Kirby, Tommy Proctor, Keith Jowers, Ralph Thomas, James Seigler and Bo New. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacon Board of Christian Heritage Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, at the church.
