Robert "Bob" Poss Sr.

Robert "Bob" Poss, Sr, 84, husband of Monting Y. Poss, entered into rest Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend David Sisler officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Poss, son of the late Dave Henry Poss and Flora Williams Poss, studied Engineering at Georgia Tech, and was an Instrumentation Tech with MAU. He was a Captain in the United States Army serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He also served 21 years as Captain with the National Guard. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where sang in the choir and was a Trustee of the Church. He was a member of the United Methodist Men and the Adult Sunday School class.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Sims Poss, and his sister, Joy Poss Martin.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Robert E. Poss, Jr., of Thomson; his daughters, Sheilah P. Johnson (Ronnie), of Thomson, and Lorraine P. Werner (Chris), of The Woodlands, TX; his grandchildren, David R. Johnson (Kellie), of Evans, Daniel E. Johnson (Jamie Lynn), of Nashville, TN, Kellyn S. Werner, of Fayetteville, AR, and Peyton E. Werner, of The Woodlands, TX; his great grandchild, Sara Reid Johnson, of Evans; his stepchildren, Hal Gauldin (Teresa), and Andrea Moore (Clay), of Beech Island; and his step grandchildren, Hollie, Hillary, and Haley.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
