Roger Attaway

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Roger Sloan Attaway, Jr., 85, of Grier Circle, entered into rest July 20, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Akin Attaway. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Broome officiating. Mr. Attaway was born in Wrens, Georgia and was the son of the late Roger S. Attaway, Sr. and the late Emma Lou Hadden Attaway. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Attaway was the retired owner and operator of Thomson Radio and TV Service for over 50 years. He was a former member of the Thomson Jaycees. Mr. Attaway was a faithful and devoted member of Thomson Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. Survivors include his son, Roger S. Roddy Attaway and wife, Jean; daughter, Rita Attaway Ray and husband, Stewart all of Evans, GA; brother, John Judson Juddy Attaway and wife, Doris of N. Augusta, SC; brother-in-law, John Kilgore; grandchildren, Marie McCarthy and husband, Kevin, Jenny Long and husband, Boyd, Tori Ray Bell and husband, Jordan and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Attaway was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Attaway Kilgore and Sara Attaway Kidd. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 17 Executive Park, Suite 15, Atlanta, GA 30329-2012. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.
