Sandy Santillanez Obituary

DAVISBORO, Ga. - Sandy Santillanez, age 86, of Davisboro, Georgia, passed away Friday, May 22nd, 2015 at Washington County Regional Medical Center. A native of Trinchera, Colorado, he was the son of Teofilo Santillanez and Petra Perea Santillanez. Sandy was retired after 26 years service in the U. S. Air Force. His service record included the Vietnam War and tours in Ecuador, Germany and England. A longtime resident of Savannah, moving here in the 1970's, Sandy later retired after 20 years with Tetley Tea. He had lived in Davisboro for the last 14 years. Involved with Adult Literacy in Savannah and teaching Sunday School, Sandy also volunteered at the Washington County Medical Center. Preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters, and his first wife, Betty Hunt Santillanez, he is survived by his wife, Mary Pilcher Bragg Santillanez; sons, John Sandy and Peter of Savannah, and Larry Brown of Champaign, Illinois; a step-son, Barry M. Bragg of Charlottesville, Virginia; step-daughters, Donna B. MacMath and Susan Bragg Berry, both of Orangeburg, South Carolina; sister, Benita Guzman of Denver, Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Susan Kessler, Logan Santillanez, Andy Brown, and Ashley Tobias and 4 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 27th from 6 to 8 PM at Bonaventure Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 28th at 11 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel, The Reverend Steve Keener officiating, with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 8108 Friendship Church Road, Bartow, Georgia 30413 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.

To Mrs Mary and family, Sandy was such a sweet loving man and was such a dear friend to my Mom.( Ann Nebb). She retired from Tetley and past in 1991. Our hearts and Prayers goes out to you and yours. God has taken another Angel home.Heaven is full of the Tetley Tea gang for a sweet reunion.
