Sarah Thompson Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest peacefully at Trinity Hospital on Friday, February 20, 2009, Mrs. Sarah Evans Thompson, 94, of Heather Drive, wife of the late Mr. Harold D. Thompson, Sr. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from Union Baptist Church, 1104 Greene Street with Reverend William Wright and Reverend Sam Tanksley officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to Union Baptist Church Building Fund, 1104 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901, in memory of Mrs. Sarah E. Thompson. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Thompson was a devoted Christian and a member of Union Baptist Church, where she sang on the choir and served as treasurer. She served in numerous leadership roles including chairing programs and preparing communion. Mrs. Thompson attended Richmond County Public Schools and Haines Normal Industrial Institute. She attended Paine College and was an educator in the Richmond County Public Schools. Mrs. Thompson helped her sons run their family business, Thompson's Farm. She was a member of the Women's Civic Club and Citizens Advisory Committee at G.B. Searle Corporation. Survivors are two loving and devoted sons, Harold D. Thompson, Jr. and Charles A. Thompson, Augusta; two sisters-in-law, Hyacinth Von Evans, Port Charlotte, FL and Ada M. Evans, Augusta; seven nieces, four nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call the residence or W. H.
