Thomas Huffman Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Thomas L. Huffman, 76, husband of Mrs. Myrtle H. Huffman, entered into heaven on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at University Hospital with family and friends at his side. Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverends Elliott Fulmer, Kenneth Garvin and Lloyd C. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Norton, Lamar, Robert and Clarence Holley, Jimmy Percival and Sammy Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be CSX Railroad Men and the Men's Sunday School Class of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church. Mr. Huffman was a native of Grovetown, GA, and had resided in Hephzibah, GA for the past twenty eight years. He worked for thirty and a half years for the CSX Railroad in Augusta. He retired from the railroad on December 31st, 1986. He was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church in Wrens, GA and was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. Thomas loved his family and friends and most of all he loved serving the Lord. He loved fishing, golfing when he was not tending to his beautiful gardens that he had each year and he loved to read. He was known to many as 'PaPa'. In addition to his loving wife of thirty seven years he is survived by his daughters, Loretta Shelko-Percival and Jimmy of Parksville, SC, Vickie E. Shelko of Augusta; sons, Thomas Glenn Huffman of Martinez and Kenny Huffman of Pennsylvania; three grandsons, Jeremy, Travis and Sean Huffman; one great grandson, Caleb Huffman; brother, James E. Huffman; and his mother, Viola Sweatman. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1105 Furys Lane, Augusta, GA 30907 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 1655 Tullie Circle, Suite 111, Atlanta, GA 30329. Our sincere condolences to the Huffman family. We only knew them for a short while. We met Mr. Huffman through our brother-in-law.We bought some of his delicious vegetables that he had raised in his many gardens. May God bless Myrtle and the entire family.
