William Farfour

AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. William Neil Farfour, 72, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016. Neil was born in Morganton, NC, February 19, 1944, and was the son of the late Leslie A. and Helen Player Farfour. Neil is survived by his beloved wife, Meg Latham Farfour; daughter, Margaret Suzanne Farfour (Michael) Romano, San Diego, CA; sons, W. Matthew (Jenna Janbeck, Ph.D.) Farfour, Athens, GA, Michael Joseph (Iwalani) Farfour, Athens, GA and mother of his children, Mary Belle Farfour, and their grandchildren, Bodey Farfour, Barrett Farfour, Kai Farfour. He is also survived by stepchildren Sierra Elizabeth (Sean) Boyle, Aiken; Thomas Ethan (Leandra) Gamble, Savannah, GA, and grandchildren Jolene Boyle Jaden Boyle and Miller Gamble. Siblings, two sisters, Frieda (Thomas Brown, M.D.) Brown, Ph.D., Helen (Wayne) Justice; and a brother, Leslie A. (Cheryl) Farfour. Neil was a resident of Aiken for over 46 years, and was an entrepreneur/business owner specializing in real estate development. Neil was an avid golfer who loved the game and loved teaching others especially through the organization for children, First Tee. Neil loved the outdoors, music, dancing, traveling all over the world and meeting new people. He delighted in sharing his travel and other experiences with family and friends. Neil loved a good story and often recounted tales that entertained and amused the listener. He was a tireless worker in business and at home. He belonged to many civic organizations and worked with a number of local charities. Neil was a caring soul, whose generous spirit touched all that he met. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Friday, March 11, 2016, at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave. Aiken, S.C. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm. Reverend Jonathan Bourman will officiate. Interment will be private.
