Benjamin Greenwood Torrance, Jr. 76, of Aurora, Illinois, died July 30, 2007. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on January 9, 1931 to Edith

V. (Johnson) and Benjamin G. Torrance, Sr.

Surviving children are, Benjamin Torrance, III of Aurora, William E. (Janet) Torrance of Sycamore, Susan Torrance of Homewood, Joan Torrance of Sandwich, Jeannine (Devin) Larsen of Montgomery, Joel Torrance of Oswego, Michael (Jamie) Torrance of Oswego, and Trish (Will) Torres of Montgomery; grandchildren, Benjamin G. IV (Isabel) Torrance of Aurora, Brock and Jake Torrance of Oswego, William E. (Anna) Torrance (Jr.) of Kirkland, IL, and Maxx Torrance of Sycamore, Susan, Joe (Jr.) and Tony Russ of Sandwich, Trish, Devin, Max, and Leia Larsen of Montgomery, Jillian Torrance of Oswego and Danielle Torrance of Geneva, Kiley, Stephanie and Michael (Jr.) Torrance of Oswego and Erica, Nicholas, Joel and Alena Torres of Montgomery; three great-granddaughters, Madalyn Torrance of Aurora, Kaylee Jean Johnson of Oswego, and Riley Joan Russ of Sandwich, and his first great grandson, William E. Torrance III who will be born in August; also surviving is the mother of his children, Patricia Mosley Torrance, and his sisters, Joan Sarra, of Greensboro, N.C. and Margaret Pease of West Hartford, CT; his sisters-in-law, Barbara (Stan) Peck of Montgomery, Alice (Don) Seidelman, Joy (the late William) Mosley, Jean (Chuck) Wollenweber of Bristol, Kathy Angell of Fond du Lac, WI, Marie Mosley of Brownwood, TX; and fifty nieces and nephews.

His parents, one sister, Marie Block of West Hartford, CT, and his brother-in-law William Mosley preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and jet airplane mechanic for five years. He was a charter member of the Autocrats when the Oswego Drag Strip was conceived. He was a member of Automobile Mechanics' Local 701 and retired in 1990. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the country in his motor home. He kept busy with his hobbies; computers, digital photography and refurbishing lawn mowers, and was an avid gun collector.

Visitation will be held at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway in Montgomery, IL, on Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A private interment at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Elwood, IL will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
