Elverna D. Hilt

Elverna D. Hilt, 94 of Yorkville, passed away on Thursday, November 20 at her daughter's home on Chicago, IL. She was born in Plattville, IL, the daughter of Lorenzo and Clara (Schimke) Fox.

She married Gerald (Jick) A. Hilt on July 17th, 1936 in Plattville. They spent most of their married life in the Plattville /Lisbon area. They were successful in several business ventures, always working side by side until his death in January of 1994. They proudly designed and built their own home. She loved to work in the yard with her flowers. She was also a great seamstress. Everyone loved her meringue pies. She especially enjoyed time with her family and their extended families and friends. In earlier years she was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lisbon where she was a member and President of the Ladies Aid, President of the Lisbon Woman's Club, and in her later years a member of the Yorkville Woman's Club.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Gerri Shute, Nancy (James) Horton, and Sandra (Michael) Moran; two cherished granddaughters, Kerri Horton (Adam Zielka), Jill (Chris) Ferko, and a grandson, Timothy Moran; along with two beautiful great-grandchildren, Brody and Callie Ferko; dear brothers and sisters, Darrell (June) Fox and Lorenzo (Barb) Fox, Nadine (Charles) Flint, Norrain (Ted) Phelps and Diana Strever; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her beloved brothers, Laverne, Burton, Warren, Ogden and Gordon Fox; and her son-in-law, David Shute.

Visitation will be at the Plattville Methodist Church on Monday, November 24th, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon followed by the funeral service. Interment will be in the Plattville Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family who will in return gift an underprivileged family this holiday season.
