Gordon J. Parker

1963 - 2023

Gordon J. Parker, 59, of Oswego, IL, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Hospice, Rush-Copley, Aurora, IL after having accepted Jesus as his savior. He was born September 7, 1963 in Marathon, NY the beloved son of John G. and Christine Parker. He loved being from Upstate NY and would share countless stories of the area. He married the love of his life, Eberly Goodpaster in Illinois and had a wonderful life raising their two children. He worked for Tellabs for 19 years as a Field Engineer and then as a Manager. He later worked in Car Dealerships for 16 years as a Manager. He loved Cars and could easily identify all makes and models, even by the sound of the engine. He enjoyed all types of Trivia Games. He especially loved sports, watching football and playing fantasy football. He also always wanted to have a dog or two around and when we had cats, he would call them puppies. Gordon was a loving and devoted Husband and family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Eberly Parker (nee Goodpaster) of Oswego, IL; his children Coltan (Carolyn Murray) Parker of Washington D.C., Kallahan (Nathaniel) Shields of Oswego, IL; his granddaughters Shiloh and Magdalena Shields; his parents John G. and Christine (nee Diekow) Parker of Austin, TX; his sisters Deborah Batten (nee Parker) of Pflugerville, TX, Johanna (Michael Price) Parker of Harford Mills, NY; and his dogs Ollie and Emma. Gordon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira F. and Edith Parker of Marathon, NY; grandparents Herman and Marjory Diekow of Freetown, NY; brother-in-law Richard Batten of Pflugerville, TX; Dogs Jet, Flex, Brodie; Cat "puppies" Cody and Scout. Family will be receiving guests Friday, August 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery, IL.
