James R. "Jim" Kroening

1951 - 2018

James "Jim" R. Kroening, 66, of Somonauk, passed away March 5, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born March 21, 1951 to Carl and Ruth Kroening in Milwaukee, WI. Jim grew up in Lockport, IL. He retired from Caterpillar after 31 years. His hobby was photography and he also enjoyed the White Sox and Bears. Jim was a member of Union Congregational Church in Somonauk. He is survived by his wife, Ginny, who he married in 1973; sons, Brian and Bob (Caitlyn Reardon); three sisters, Judy Pavlich, Karen Kroening, and Janis McDowell; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Union Congregational Church, 305 S. Gage St. in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Interment will be private.
