My sincere condolence to the Goncher Family. Dr. Goncher delivered my three girls, 18, 11, and 9 at Rush Copley. He was such a kind and gentle soul. I was just thinking about him just the other day as I was at Rush Copley for some tests as he once joked that he did his residency at Cook County when none of the nurses could find my vein to give blood. Heaven has received a Beautiful Angel.

To Dr Goncher's Family,
I just learning of his passing today, and I am so sad. He was one of my doctors at Bay Womens Center during the last few months of my pregnancy (this year). He took so much time to talk to me, and told me about his wife and german shepards, and how I reminded him of his daughter. He gave me great advice and spent lots of time answering all my questions. He even bet me a 6-pack of diet Dr Pepper that my baby would weigh a certain weight, ha ha. He made a big impact in a short time and my heart hurts at the news of his passing. He was a good man.

We are very sad to hear of John's passing. We truly loved having you as neighbors and friends during our stay in White Eagle. Our prayers are with you and your family. Our sympathies to all. Heaven just got a little better with John's arrival - it now has one "special" doctor and one superb dog lover.

Marianne, I just learned of Dr's passing. As I have move to San Antonio, Tx, my Mother informed me of seeing the article in the Beacon News. He will be sorely missed. I know I haven't seen or spoken to you since closing the practice in Aurora, but I occasionally have fond memories of times spent in the offices with you. My prayers are with you and your family.
God bless. Susan M Hart

Thank you for running the notice in the Aurora Beacon. Without that, those whose lives he touched in Aurora would not have known of his death. He delivered both of my children which I am grateful for. He was a kind and caring man. I could always count on him to provide me with the right answers during my pregnancy - and he took my calls at his home - something unheard of today. We lost a truly great man. Dear Marianne,
Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. We were so shocked and saddened to read of John's sudden passing. As you know, John came really close to delivering both our kids, but since he thought our John would be a little while longer, he went to the store to do some shopping. John Thomas had other ideas and Dr. Woodruff did the honors. Your John made it in time to finish things up. We are very fortunate to have had John Goncher as our doctor.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I will make a donation to the K9 unit in honor of Uncle John and your beautiful family. The article celebrating his life was beautifully written and it is indeed certain he made this world a better place for so many and in so many ways. It is my hope that Mary Anne and Patrick can get to know their wonderful cousins and Auntie Marianne in the future. We are here for you, please call anytime.

I will never forget Dr. Goncher for I have a funny story. When my daughter was pregnant she chose Dr. Goncher as her Dr. She loved his care for her during her pregnancy. But when the big day came, he didn't make it in time and the nurse and I delivered the baby right there is the bed. We had a little girl, so when Dr. Goncher came I said "Don't spoil our all girl party" and we all had a good laugh. That was the last time I saw him 19 years ago.

I knew John as a colleague for too short a time here in Clearwater. He was one of the old-school repositiories of skills that were once part of our specialty but are, sadly, no longer taught. Always eager to teach our residents, unfailingly cheerful and attentive, he was loved by colleagues and patients alike. We miss him.

It's hard to understand why such a wonderful person as John was taken so quickly from us, but find comfort in knowing that he touched us all in so many ways. He's silly little stories always helped to brighten my day. He had so many life experience's that he enjoyed sharing. He truly had enough adventures to fill the lives of 10 men. He placed his family & dogs above all. May happy memories carry you through this sorrowful time.

Words cannot express how shocked and saddened we all were to hear about Dr. Goncher's sudden passing. We all have so many fond memories of working with him. To the family of Dr. Goncher, I was Dr. Goncher's last surgical patient (April 25). God sent the 'Master of the Trade' to perform surgery on me and then whisked him away. There are so many wonderful things that come to mind when I think of him. He was personable, caring, humble, resourceful, he had a way of putting a troubled mind at ease, detailed and a neat surgeon. Though still recovering, the only pain I feel is that of loss. What a doctor! God bless you all at this time of sadness. You are in my prayers.
