Lee Weber Obituary

Our dearest mother Lee (nee Bailey) Weber sadly passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born June 14, 1933 in Naperville, IL to Viola (nee Bauer) and Emmett Bailey and was educated at SS Peter and Paul School in Naperville, IL, Madonna High School in Aurora, IL and St. Charles Hospital School of Nursing in Aurora, IL. She married Elmer Weber on November 27, 1954. Those 65+ years were packed with fun, chaos and above all LOVE. Being a nurse was a true calling for her, as she was a most caring, comforting and compassionate individual. Her career began as a nurse at St. Charles Hospital, then night nurse at Seal Master and then made a career change to become the Director of Apheresis at the Heartland Blood Center. She retained her nursing license for whooping 68 years along with teaching first aid and other health related classes. Lee was a devoted and hardworking Christian woman who won the Christian Woman of the Year award in the Rockford Dioceses in 2006. She was an extremely active member of St Peter's Church in Aurora serving any way possible but especially as chairperson for the Diocesan Stewardship drive (parishioners loved her speeches), funeral dinner coordinator, fundraising and her claim to fame, the annual St Peter's garage sale. What stood out most was her love of family and friends. She enjoyed meeting new people, history, trees, animals, traveling, keno and all things Halloween. She chaired school reunion events and her Nurses Alumni Association and was fortunate enough to visit Europe and enjoyed accompanying her children on family trips. She will be sorely missed and survived by her seven children: Kathy (George) Baird, Norb Weber, Cindy (Tom) Nickels, Agnes (Ken) Shannon, Jane (Don) Tansor, Joe (Gina Waldvogel) Weber, and Paula (Mitch) Canty, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, her sister Fay (Edward) Vogt of Buffalo Grove, IL and many nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Weber, her parents, three sisters, and her daughter-in-law. The thought she would like to leave with everyone is: "be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you." Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 5:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 North Lake St. Aurora, IL 60506 (630) 631-5500. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Church 925 Sard Ave, Aurora, IL. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions in Lee's name may be made to: Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House 803 Poplar St, Murray, KY 42071 or donate a tree at shop.alivingtribute.org.

Tom Nickels and family, sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She was a very kind holy woman. I got to know her while she provided senior care for my elderly mother for 6 months around 2009.

To all the extended Bailey and Weber Family, please accept my condolences.

Lee was the daughter of my Dad's (Howard) brother (Emmette). My Dad and Uncle Emmette were the youngest and oldest children of our Bailey family - about 22 years apart. My Uncle Emmette left the family farm (just south of Gilliam, MO) in his late 1920s and moved to DuPage County, Illinois (near Chicago). I have very found memories of Uncle Emmette and Cousin Lee. Lee was just a few years younger than my Mom and for some reason we always referred to her as "Aunt Lee". We visited my uncle and her family while they all still lived in the Chicago area in the 1960s on Family Trips. Lee was very close to our family, my Mom in particular; she and Elmer visited us in Marshall, Slater and Gilliam (MO) many times over the years. She was a really sweet person, so thoughtful and outgoing. We loved her! She would often come back to Saline County for family funerals, weddings and gatherings. When I was still working for the Federal Reserve, on one of my last Chicago business trips, I took the train to Naperville to visit her at home and saw Elmer and Norb. My Mom chatted with her earlier this year and I talked with her in the last few months following Mom's death. She was the last of the Bailey Family of that generation that I knew personally. Everyone is gone now. I'm glad we have pictures and family memories. God Bless.

PS: attached is a pic of Lee and the "first cousins" at my Aunt Dorothy's 90th birthday in 2013.

Mrs. Weber was one of the first parishioners I met at St. Peter Parish and she made my family feel very welcome...she was very supportive of the school and donated so much time to raising money for education. I told my students to watch Mrs. Weber for inspiration. She worked tirelessly! What a great example she was for our parish and school. I hope her family knows how grateful we all were for her time, talent and presence in our lives...
