Leon Ray Peavy

1959 - 2023

Leon Ray Peavy, 63, was born on October 27, 1959, in Jacksonville, FL. He spent his younger years between Illinois and Florida, eventually settling in Batavia, IL post high school. Upon graduation and following in his father's footsteps, Ray attended IBEW trade school to become an electrician.

In 1987, via a chance blind date set up by their parents, Ray and Janis met and never separated. Ray and Janis married shortly after in 1988 and began a family making their home in Hinkley, IL. Ray developed many close friendships in town and was known and loved by many. Ray loved the outdoors, golfing, grilling, but mostly spending time with his family watching any type of sporting event, but especially his White Sox, Bears, or Florida Gators.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Janis of 35 years; two daughters Skye (Jordan) Eichelberger and Haven Peavy (TJ Carstenson); seven grandchildren, Kale, Kyla, Kora, Wyatt, Eden, Willow, Jade; mother, Grace (Bill) Campanella; sister, Darlene (Dave) Schewe; sister in law Bev (Byron) Fisher; nieces, Wendy (Tim) Watson, Michelle (Steven) Ison, Brooke Fisher, Nikki (Michael) Paterna; nine great nephews; one great niece, and his loyal dog, Sugar.

Ray was preceeded in death by his father, Leon Peavy Sr.; mother-in-law, Maureen Stalka, and father-in-law, Leonard Stalka.

Visitation service will be held at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL, on Saturday, September 16th from 11:00 am- 1:00pm. The memorial service will immediately follow visitation at 1:00pm. A memorial service will be held in Jacksonville, FL at a near future date.
