Robert Barbel Obituary
Robert J. Barbel, 91, of Aurora, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Presence Mercy Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1925 in Aurora, Illinois. Robert was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He retired after thirty eight years of service from Guarantee General Store in Wheaton having never missed a day of work. Survivors include his five children, James (Margie) Barbel, Ronald (Mary Jean) Barbel, Dennis Barbel, Diane (Bill) Brauer, and Terry (Pennie) Barbel; eight grandchildren, Andrea (Dan) Smith, David (Liz) Barbel, Michael (Sarah) Barbel, Sara (Phil) Brown, Stephanie (Ryan) Hoogland, Hailee Brauer, Hannah Brauer, and Ashley Moore; eight great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Arnold and Rosemary (Robert) Tinsley; three brothers-in-law, Donald (Dorothy) Newton, Earl Newton and Richard Newton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty five years, Betty Jean (Newton) Barbel; his parents John and Minnie (Wolgensinger) Barbel; his brother, Arthur (Claire) Barbel and his sister Frances (Chris) Columbo. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 10:00 AM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, Fr. Daniel E. Peters will officiate with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, October 3, 2016 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake Street, Aurora, IL 60506. (630) 631-5500. We are so sorry for the loss of dear,sweet Bob. He was a wonderful man, so caring, friendly, funny and wonderful in every way.
I always told him he was my secret boyfriend. He will be missed but now he is with Betty in a better place. Our love goes out to all of you at this sad time. God Bless Bob.
