Minnie Hughes Obituary
Mrs. Hughes was born October 19, 1935 in Macon County to the late John and Elizabeth Guffey Carpenter. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Swannanoa for 60 years and worked in the preschool and nursery for 40 years. Minnie spent her years as a homemaker raising her daughters and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hughes; sisters, Myrtle King and Martha Thomas; brothers, Johnny, James and David Carpenter; and son-in-law, Richard Klein.
Minnie is survived by her daughters, Karen Lewis (Bruce) of Browns Summit, NC and Lori Klein of Newland, NC; sister, Mary Watkins of Clayton, GA; grandson, Garrett Lewis (Mandi); great grandson, Bryce Lewis and great granddaughter, Adleigh Lewis all of Browns Summit, NC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 1:00pm. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
