Victor Manuel Caldero Sr., 93, a resident of Newland, NC, and formerly of Mount Morris, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents Nicolas and Librada, his first wife of 49 years, Maria Josefina, and daughter, Lillian.
He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Carolyn Caldero of Newland, NC; children from his first marriage, Victor M. Caldero Jr. (Josie), Sandra Bentley (Michael), Victor J. Caldero (Bob), Brenda Elsworth (Jimmy), and Wilma Bumgardner (David); stepchildren Diane Banner-Rosado, Melvin Leslie Banner (Marcia), Danita Church, and Robert F. Banner; grandchildren Javier, Luis Manuel (Tatiana), Nicholas (Danielle), Sean, Noelle (Matthew), Maria, Peter, Brandon, Emmanuel, and Barb (Jay); great-grandchildren Layton, Chloe, Ayden, Mason, Madox, Maxon, Lilliana, Ameera, and Mya; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Victor was born on March 29, 1931, in Puerto Rico. He served in the United States Army and later relocated to Mount Morris, NY, where he and Maria raised their family together. After Maria's passing, Victor found love and companionship again, marrying Carolyn in 2014. Together, they shared a peaceful life in Newland, NC, during his later years.
Victor was a man of quiet strength and steadfast dedication to his family. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones and cherished his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Victor will be remembered for his warm presence, gentle nature, and the stories he shared from his long and fulfilling life.
A memorial service to honor Victor will be held later at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized.
