Fallbrook - Barbara Ann Prestwood, 87, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Fallbrook, California. Born on May 6, 1937, in Tacoma, Washington, Barbara lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and quiet strength.
Barbara pursued her passion for healthcare, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and later a Master of Science in Public Health from Chapman University. Her professional journey spanned more than three decades at Antelope Valley Hospital, where she served in various departments with unwavering commitment.
Barbara's legacy is deeply rooted in the love she shared with her family. She was the beloved wife of Walter Prestwood for 56 years until his passing. Barbara is survived by her daughters Cindy Prestwood and Jennifer Navarre; her son-in-law Martin Navarre; and her cherished granddaughters Sophia Navarre and Amelia Navarre.
Barbara loved spending time with her family, tending to her garden, traveling to new places, and challenging herself with the New York Times crossword puzzles. A devoted animal lover, she shared her home-and heart-with numerous dogs and cats over the years.
In addition to her many gifts, Barbara was a trained opera singer whose voice brought beauty into the world. Even into her later years, she continued to share this gift with those around her - a testament to both her talent and generous heart.

I remember Barbara well, having worked 23 years at AV Hospital. I believe she worked in Nursing Education. My condolences to her family.She was always warm and friendly, in my interactions with her. I acknowledge her accomplishments in nursing and remember her fondly.

Barbara and Walter were some of my favorite dental patients for years. I always admired Barbara for going to the gym and trying to fight the limitations of aging, something I am now trying to do! I had no idea that she was an opera singer--wow!

I had the pleasure of being her and your father´s dental hygienist for years at Dr Nabors office.
I considered her to be a friend.
