Betty Larson Obituary

April 9, 1931 – October 16, 2025

Betty Diana Thulin Larson, age 94, of Lancaster, California, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025. She was born on April 9, 1931, in Joliet, Illinois, and was adopted at one year old from a Chicago orphanage by her loving parents, Alfred and Mildred Thulin, who doted on their beautiful only child.

Betty grew up in Andersonville in Chicago, where she was active in the Lutheran church - a faith she carried with her throughout her life. In Chicago, she met her husband, Ralph Larson, and together they raised four children: Lawrence,  Jerrold, Karolynn, and Elizabeth. Betty worked for Banker's Life and Casualty for 15 years and was a resident of Ravenswood Manor.

In 1987, Betty and Ralph moved to Lancaster, California, where she worked for Boeing and KinderCare. She was known for her incredible work ethic, kind spirit, and unwavering dedication to family.

Betty was thoughtful and intentional with every moment spent with her loved ones. She never missed a birthday, always calling to sing and sending cards for every occasion. She loved reading to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially pop-up books, and often played the piano, trying to teach anyone who would listen. She enjoyed coloring, creating, and finding joy in the simple moments. She loved taking pictures and was rarely without a camera in hand, capturing family gatherings, everyday moments, and the beauty around her. Betty also had a sweet tooth - she adored chocolates and desserts, always ready to share a treat with someone she loved. Her colorful personality shone through in her bright clothing, playful accessories, and joyful style, which perfectly reflected her cheerful spirit and love for life.

She cherished the little things. Betty documented her life with care, creating detailed family history books that preserved generations of memories. She stayed engaged with the world around her, always informed about local and global events. She truly was a living history book - able to recall details about anyone, famous or not. With her sharp wit, radiant smile, and calm presence, Betty made everyone feel loved and seen.

She is survived by her children Jerrold (Dana), Karolynn (Barry), and Elizabeth (Tom), and by thirteen grandchildren: Anne, Lawrence, Christina, and Jerrold (children of Lawrence); Erika, Bethany, and Amanda (children of Jerrold); Jonathan, Avery, and Raquel (children of Karolynn); and Zerina, Kyle, and Grant (children of Elizabeth). She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren - Jaden, Jace, Eleanor, Calvin, Gwyneth, Payton, Caduceus, and Everly - who brought her endless joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Mildred Thulin; her husband of 55 years, Ralph Larson (2004); her son, Lawrence Larson (2015); and her beloved cat, Blue Suede (2024).

Betty will be remembered for her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

My beautiful Mumsy loved all of us in her own special way. I´m having the hardest time right now without her. After being her caregiver, advocate, and daughter, my heart feels such an emptiness. There is no other like my Mother. We have so many wonderful memories to hold on to, and I will look for you in everything beautiful.
Thank you for being my beautiful Mumsy. I love you forever.
