Gloria Jayne GOLDING

1940 - 2018

Jayne Golding was born October 2, 1940, and passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Promiseland in Lubbock, Texas. Jayne and her true love Clyde Golding moved to Lubbock from Palmdale, California in 2007 upon Clyde's retirement. Jayne and Clyde were actively involved in a variety of philanthropic organizations for many years.
A lady of grace and dignity, Jayne's friends and acquaintances enjoyed her great sense of humor.
Jayne started life as the 'baby of the family' in Dora, New Mexico. She was enthusiastically involved in every available school activity such as acting and playing drums in the band.
Throughout her life, she took on the responsibility of helping her special needs sister, working countless hours to help her. After her marriage to Clyde, she was always beside her beloved husband, enjoying golf and socializing with friends together, and later caring for him during his long illness.
Jayne received her Master's Degree in School Administration from La Verne University in California. She became a Head Teacher and Mentor Teacher in mostly elementary schools, and was named Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Teacher. She was included in the Outstanding Women of America honor organization and received a commendation from a State Director for Business Management for her service to public schools.
Jayne is survived by her sisters Hazel Jernigan and Gracie Wilcher, son Thomas Leon Box; four stepdaughters Kristin Garcia (Robert), Denette Golding, Diane Carlton (Craig), and Marta Brown (Forrest); seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place, and public services are not planned. Jayne was preceded in death by her parents H.B. and Carrie Wilcher, brothers and sisters Juanita, Calvin, Donald, Helen, Betty, and Bobby, and her beloved husband of 29 years, Clyde Golding (2017).
