Quartz Hill - L. Yvonne (Roberts) Valasek: Passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025. Yvonne will be remembered for her dedication to family, friends, community, and her kindness. Born September 2, 1943, to parents Ernest and Rosemary Roberts of St. Louis Missouri. Her family moved to Glendale, California in the 1950's. Yvonne met Raymond, a fellow Hoover High graduate, through her Uncle Frank, and they married on June 20, 1964, starting a family in Panorama City. They moved their young family to Antelope Valley in 1970, first to Lancaster and then to Quartz Hill in 1974. She was active for decades with the LA County Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary as well as the Antelope Valley Fair. Yvonne worked for Palm Ranch Irrigation District. She made numerous wedding cakes for AV residents, family, and friends. Yvonne aka "Aunt Cookie", "Grandma Cookie" or just "Cook", leaves behind her husband of 60 years, retired LA County Fire Captain Raymond J. Valasek and their two children, son Brett and wife Robyn Valasek and daughter Wendy and husband Brian McCormick II as well as eight grandchildren, CJ and Max Valasek, and Brian III, Connor, Kami, Kara, Kali and Seamus McCormick. She also has two living brothers, Ernest Joseph Roberts Jr. and David Roberts.

Cook was a very dear and loving friend. She frequently helped others and rarely requested anything for herself. Your absence will be deeply felt, my friend. Go fly high on the mountain because your time on earth is done. You touched so many hearts.

Cook with a bunch of us cruising to Mexico in January 2015. Her roommate, to the left of Cook, was Peter's sister Sandy. We shared so many fun times and made so many memories with Cook and Ray that will live on in our hearts forever.
