I was a neighbor teenager when Sherman and his family lived Nextdoor to us in Torrance Ca. Sherman was a no nonsense guy. He observed me being more than just a bratty teenager and to my surprise, called me out on it! I never forgot his strong words to me. We listen to others much more than our parents. I believed that was my turning point and I always remember him when I think of what I might of become if it wasn´t for this neighbor who took an interest in my future.
Rest in Peace Sir

so sorry to hear about Sherman. His mom was my grandmother Thora Dron's close friend. He also knew my mom June.

Sherman was & always will be, more than just my first boss when I was a "green engineer" fresh out of college. He is my great friend, mentor, and West Coast Dad....guiding me through the world of flight testing at Edward's AFB. He was the right man, at the right time....and changed my life forever! Love & miss you Pop!

So sorry for your loss! I´ve got so many memories as my family moved right next door to Sherm and this amazing family in 1976. After I moved away I came back many times to visit Sherm and Margaret and share my experiences and life´s ups and downs. They were always willing to sit and listen and share their own insights from their vast knowledge and life experience which was invaluable to me on so many levels! Even after I moved to Kentucky in 2011 I tried to make time to visit if I was in the area. After that, our email exchanges were ongoing until life just got too hectic and that is something I regret. I love you Sherman! From the tender age of 16 you´ve had a profound influence on my life and for this I will always be eternally grateful. Not only for you, but for Margaret as well!!
Sending all my love to the entire family!
Much love and many blessings,
Cindy Sommer
