Abdul Dada Obituary

Abdul Gaffar Dada

Phoenix - August 2, 1942 - August 13, 2018

Abdul passed away with his loving wife, Leila, by his side. His wonderful and caring life as a son, brother, cousin, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend began in Gujarat Province of India, through Karachi, Pakistan and ultimately to the US in the early 1960's. He earned an academic scholarship from Oregon State University where he studied chemical engineering and was a stand-out athlete on the track team. He graduated with top honors. Abdul was dedicated to his work, 23 years with GE and 28 years with Bechtel, excelling at both chemical and nuclear engineering as project manager/engineer. He developed numerous US and foreign patents and was recognized for his innovation. He is survived by the love of his life of 51 years, Leila Taimasov Dada of Phoenix, AZ; his children Aleem Dada (Jean and grandchildren Hayes, Lanier and Belle) of Raleigh, NC; Shameena Dada Broach (Danny) of Wilmington, NC; Karim Dada (Karen and grandson Carson) of Chandler, AZ; siblings Miriam, Amin, Aftab, Aslam, Parveen and Yasmin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kassim and Noor Dada, and his brother Yakoob. Abdul is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he adored. Abdul was a very kind and gentle man, reminding everyone to practice love and acceptance. As the anchor of the family, he will be dearly missed. The family is thankful for the kindness and compassion from those that helped in so many ways over the last 8 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Abdul's behalf to the International Medical Corps or Arizona Humane Society.
